can i install ddr400?

right now my comp is 512mb ddr333, if i take the ddr333 and put ddr400 will the mother board do it as ddr400 or still ddr333?
btw motherboard said it can support only up to ddr333, but?

i think that ddr400 won't work in a ddr333 motherboard and am pretty sure of this but there is probably a way around it by like chaning the clock or sumin but that pretty much defeats the purpose of ddr400 me thinks

ddr400 ram is smart meaning, it can back clock its self to the ddr333, but if your board only supports up to ddr333 then u just wont get the benefits of ddr400 example--

you have 2 dimm slots with 1 512 stick of ddr33 and 1 512 stick of ddr400, you put both of them in and then you have 1 gb of ddr333 ram

ddr333 ram and ddr400 ram are the only types of ram that do this.

You can add a DDR33 into the mobo. It will just run at DDR333 if the mobo doesn't support it or you still have DDR333
