Hey guys I'm new here, and I am a heavy gamer. I play high quality games such as Half-life 2, Doom3, Counter-Strike, and Medal of Honor.

I was wondering If these new parts are good will run good.

for getting started, this is a pretty good configuration. you probably heard this a milion times but adding a graphics card is a must. especially since the mobo doesn't have integrated graphics. i have integrated graphics on my mobo, but i DO NOT recomend it, nor do i use it. it sucks. get something that has it's own processor that is a must have for the games you like to play. you should let me know what you end up doing. i'm interested in how this turns out for you.

Now this is just my opinion. It looks like you're trying to go all out without spending a large amount of money and you are into gaming. First, I would get the Winchester core instead of Newcastle for the CPU. It's about the same price, literally and better:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester Integrated into Chip FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor

For the motherboard, go with a Socket 939 to go with that Winchester CPU and this one is about $20 more but an improvement over what you picked out:

ASUS A8V DELUXE Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard

As for RAM, the more, the better. Especially if you are into gaming. This may be pricey, but you get what you pay (only $35 more than your original link). Dual channel, (2x512MB):

CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200)

Power supply is fine as well as the heatsink/fan combo. Although I would try out the stock one first before getting an aftermarket one. You'll be surprised how efficient it is. I OCed mine quite a bit and running 30 degrees C right now.

Overall, you're spending about $60 more, but look at the parts you're getting. A better deal for the price. Next, we'll talk about video card.

The graphics card you said you were gonna get, why get a Rad9800pro when you can get a GF6600GT for around the same price? It's slightly faster and at higher resolution trounces the 9800Pro

Oh, also means you could get the PCIexpress version with a SKT 939 motherboard if you go the NForce s4 route. upgrading later to sli is also a added bonus

yeah that sounds like a good idea. i was already going to change to get the XMS ram, but the new mobo and cpu sound like a good idea, and i already ordered the 9800pro. idk, i like nvidia cards but i feel more reliable with a radeon, i know the 6600gt has better clock speeds but w/e, thanks for your help guys ;) :)

Are you planing to get good speakers.(or already have some) If so i would, but if you just have cheap speakers or ones that are part of your monitor i wouldn't.

no thats not true. over the past 2 years onboard sound like AC' 97 has become good enough that the average user cant tell the difference. i still use my 7.1 pci carSB LIVE! though just because i couldnt get all 7 speakers working on the onboard and didnt have the patience to fiddle
