Can I connect graphics card w/ integrated audio to the speakers?

Hey,
I have a graphics card with HDMI output that supports 5.1 audio and I want to buy 5.1 speaker system, however my Intel D865PERL motherboard does not have 5.1 outputs... Do I need to buy a PCI audio card or can I somehow transmit the sound through the graphics card to the speakers...?

Correct me if i'm wrong here guys but I think the sounds coming from the graphics card can only be used through HDMI.

If your motherboard doesnt support 5.1 audio you will have to buy a sound card that supports 5.1 and a speaker system that supports 5.1.

you shouuld be able to use the card to stream the 5.1 to the speakers.

ex

from the HDmI port on the card, to ur sound system deck, and then it will go to the speakers
the hdmi out on ur system then goes to ur tv giving u picture as well.
