Default Call ignored cut off in XP

A friend of mine has 56k dial up on XP.

He has only just started using the internet and is getting disconnected with an error message something like - 'You have an incoming call'

I have looked in my XP settings, but can't find anything that relates to this.

Does anybody know how to stop this happening?? Is it a setting in his modem software???

Thanks

Does he have call waiting. If he has call waiting on his phone he has to put *70 in front of the number he dials out to to connect.

All you have to do is go to the connection settings then type in *70 (might be different, check with your phone company)in front of the number that you dial out to, that will temporarily disable the call waiting while you are online, then when you disconnect it will go back to normal.
