Buying new system ....but which one!?!?! (i5 vs i7)

Go with System #2 and Don't look back!!! You will regret if you don't. :)

X58 MOBO is more future proof for the next years release of Intels new CPU.

i7 Will be just a bit faster, but you will not see the difference.

ANTEC Nine Hundred is a much better case in my opinion.

You also get Win 7 Ultimate instead of Home (not a big difference tho)

6GB of RAM insted of 4GB

850W Power Supply is the way to go!

System #2 all the way!!!

dont get windows 7 ultimate unless you speak the what 56? other languages it supports or have data you really need to encrypt since those are the only benefits you get from upgrading to it. also the i7 920 is fantastic, so i would get that. also instead of getting the 260, maybe spend a little more and get the 5850 or 5870. you'd probably need a full tower case if you got either though. they have directx 11 support and the 5870 outperforms nvidias 285.
dont listen the computersource i have used ati cards all my life and never experience any backdrops that have to do anything other than it wasnt a good enough card for what was being done. also the socket used for the i7 1366 is going to be used for most of intels future procs (their 12 cores and 6cores)
another thing is with the i7 you get triple channel RAM which will improve performance as well.

Memory serves me right and the i7's that are on the same socket as the i5's (socket 11xx) currently outperform the i7's on the 3166. If I can find the article I'll link it. If it's true, you might wanna look into that.

wow thats alot of pins :D
but we know what you meant

+2

my post in another thread says it all
i would go with the X58 chipset if i was building/buying a new machine
and the pic thats inserted in the post illustrates why
the x58 chip will run SLI (or at least thats what the pic says)
and each card will have its own 16 bit lane (at least i belive thats what it means)
but none the less
the X58 chip will out perform all the others with a new 1366 socket CPU (hex core) at the helm
the i5s are leading for a while
but the i7s are the wait to go
or should i say the 1156 have the small lead, but no OCing potential
the 1366 will be back with some heavy hitters
