Buying New Set

I agree Asus and MSI are both great motherboards and as far as I am concerned handle the processor well. The only thing I don't like about Asus though is the almost continual updates to the motherboard. One update messed up my sound driver software and I had to do a system restore to get it back. Finally I just turned the updater off to that and it no longer causes me a problem.

I definitely would go for a motherboard that has HDMI on it as that will give you sharper video while also having the sound being handled by one cable. I have that connected to my living room tv I built for online video from various sources including Netflix. Of course you could also use a separate video card with HDMI but for my purposes I found it wasn't necessary. For gaming maybe so I don't play games on my computer.
