Default building pc

Hi I'm new to the forum and I'm looking to build a custom pc in the future. I don't want to buy anything yet as I don't know much about computer hardware. Where is a good place I can read and learn about how the computer works and everything?? Then I'll come back and ask for some recommendations on what parts are good. I have a moderate budget so that may help and it's mostly going to be used for gaming and possibly some work with stuff that I'm learning in school (computer classes with inventor and autocad etc.) that I might use in the future as I start getting more interested in computers.
