Hi,
I am shortly going to purchase and build a computer. Here is what I have at the moment on my list:

Mobo: Asus A8N-SLI Premium
Proc: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
RAM: 1 gig (1 stick for future upgradability) CT12864Z40B (Crucial)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda7200.7 200GB SATA150 8MB cache
DVD-RW: Philips DVD+/-R/RW 16x DL LightScribe
GFX Card: http://tw.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Products_GV-NX66T256D.htm (Hopefully two in the future)
PSU: 500W (is this enough or too little? Because the 500W is kind of bursting my budget :p)
Case: Thermaltake Tsunami

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Pete

I got the 6600 version of that graphics card, and I must say its great, so I won't hesitate to recommend it. I take it the RAM is PC3200 DDR?

Everything else looks great. One thing though. Get a Samsung Spinpoint Info here on Samsung's site, some of which is wrong. That hard drive should format to around 230GB from 250GB. It's SATA 2, so it can go at 300mbps, rather than 150mbps like the Seagate Barracuda.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822152022Here at Newegg you can get 200GB for $94, compared to the 7200.8 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148066 for $106, so your 7200.7 should be around the same price.

I bought a Barracuda, and I would upgrade to SATA 2 if my board could take it. In fact, I bought the Barracuda you are thinking of getting, and its good, if a bit noisy at times, and the Spinpoint is very quiet, in one review it said "Like a bat out of hell with a mute switch"

Yes the RAM is PC3200. Hmm, Im not sure about the HDD, quietness isnt as important to me (because I wear headphones :p) but will there be a significant performance increase if I bought a SATA 2? And my main concern was the PSU will 500W be sufficient? Or is it too much?
Thanks for taking your time to reply :D
Pete
