optical = cd drive

Mate, eight year old pc, the components have changed so much in those eight years I doubt anything other than the drives will be/are reusable and as I said, I'd probably replace those too, maybe your monitor is OK but thats up to you.

What's your budget? There are several people on the forum who enjoy speccing out machines and would give you a hand.

lols, i guess you are right man.. my budget though was about $400. im a broke student still =| i guess now i am planning on buying a new everything.
