Default Building a new comp

Well, I just found out my laptop isn't upgradeable (with the help of some of you), so I have decided to build a new desktop (after selling my laptop).

Now, I plan on selling my laptop for about $800, so I don't want to too spend TOO much more than that, but I am also selling a few instruments so I would really like to stay below $1000, not including monitor.

Unfortunately, I am a complete computer newb. I know the basics around comps, but not much more than that... especially all that overclocking and other crazy stuff you guys do.

So, what do you recommend I use for building my first computer. I'll link you my newegg wish list so you can get a basic feel for what I know and anything I can improve off of.

Thanks in advance!!

Wish List:

Case: I have a bad thing for this one, and I dunno why

That actually looks like a really strong build.

I didnt look to see if everything was compatible, but i'm sure it is because you picked out good stuff.

no complaints there looks like some nice buildin only 1 thing missing

PSU

and i have no idea what kinda psu ur lookin for
coz u have the cheap and simple one that wud do the job

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817708002

something little more expensive and possible quieter

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171016

and then you have the stupidly high priced one

Pretty much, I just want to know what I would need to have a comp that would be able to play games for the next year on the higher settings while keeping good performance.

Would I be looking at those new geforce 8800s? And if so, what would i need to accompany that video card so everything still ran as smoothly as possible?

Umm.. that powersupply isn't stupidly high-priced. You should probably aim for a higher priced PSU it's a really important part of the PC regardless of what some novices may think.. look into OCZ and Corsair for PSUs, they have high quality stuff.
Companies aren't too important, though eVGA has always been very reliable, XFX/BFG are alright too.
