It's smart to get dual channel memory, there really ain't a big difference in price.
And about my computer, I'm sure that u can get similar with ur budget, but it's smarter to go with amd. I just already have the P4 so I don't want to get a new processor because the P4 is good enough and I don't want to spend alot of money.

get dual channel. The A64s take a huge advantage from dual channel than single channel. Everything else looks very very nice.

thanks everyone. feel free to add on to my list. now that i have the basic system set out i'm gonna look into cooling products. is liquid cooling mainly for those doing extreme overclocking?? i have some questions so i hope you'll indulge me. Feel free to give me references if you don't want to answer all these basic things. what does the 1Ghz FSB mean? what does....? actually it would be easier if someone could suggest a reference be it website or book that could inform me of all the tiny inner workings of computer hardware. by the way i recently read my parents version of PCs for Dummies, copywrite 1994, and it was hilarious. talking about very expensive computers with 32MB of RAM, 75MB hard drives, Pentium cpus, and how color monitors are too expensive for home use. just thought i'd share my laughter.

Liquid cooling is risky if you dont know what you are doing. It is also quite pricey. Not a recommendation for first time builders.
