Default Building My Own Computer

Hi people,

This is the first time I've really done this. But I would like to know what would be good things to buy for a new computer. I'm going to build it all myself. I'm looking for a very high end spec but don't want to pay 3,000 which is what it would cost for an Alienware. So how much am I looking to spend and what should I get?

Thanks

A Processor;

I was able to put together a very high end system for about 1300 using NewEgg.com
Zipzoomfly.com
and
Pricegrabber.com

You could also check tigerdirect.com

Kk, cool thanks alot.

What about individual items that would be good for a top spec PC?? I have no preference over graphic cards or processors etc.

I was looking at the AMD 64 3800+, 2GB of PC4000 and something ram, the GeForce 6800 or X850XT, and a HDD around 200GB, but I've been told different hard drives of the same size can be better than others. What does that mean?
