Default Building My First Gaming PC [On a budget!]

So for quite some time now I've been wanting to build a new PC that meets my gaming needs. My current PC has sufficed thus far, but with new games coming out the require faster CPUs and higher quality GPUs I've decided that I should upgrade. I have decent knowledge of computer hardware and software, but I would like to get some outside help with this so I can spend as little as possible while getting the best parts possible. My budget is around 500-600$, but I won't be buying everything at once. Some parts will be bought for my birthday and some parts will be bought after I get a job.

My list:

CPU/MoBo Combo:

BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.1GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor - 140$

PSU:

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 - 110$

GPU:

XFX GS250XYDFC GeForce GTS 250 512MB Core Edition
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150357 - 130$

DDR3 RAM (6 Gigs):

Crucial 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148246 - 78$

Total: 458$ + Shipping

Thanks for any future help!

Your RAM won't work with the motherboard. You chose a power supply that supplies too much power. Your chip is pretty old.

What size monitor are you playing on?

My monitor is 1280x1024.

And I didn't know a PSU could supply too much power?

Edit: And don't all (or almost all) new GPUs require DDR3 RAM?

Make sure to put in "VGA611" at checkout for extra money off.

Thanks a lot for the quick and helpful responses! I'm amazed that all of these newer parts added up to be less than my original total.

What kind of discount does the VGA611 code give?

Not ordering today.. So much for that! Hah.

Edit: Oh, just seen it on the GPU page.. I thought it was for the entire purchase of everything in the cart.
