Default Building a more cost effective system

XFX nForce 750i SLI Extreme Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 Processor BX80571E7500 - 2.93GHz, 3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Wolfdale-3M, Dual-Core, Retail, Socket 775
Corsair XMS2 PC6400 800MHz 2GB DDR2
Galaxy GeForce 9600 GT Video Card

What can I do to make this system cheaper or is this the best I will get for under $400 - $500?

If you want cost effective, go with an AMD base build. However to avoid any confusion in what to get, we do already have a sticky on budget builds that is fairly current.
