Building a Computer...Need Help With Parts

If you have the money to get the FX55 and 2GB RAm go for it. Less you have to upgrade in the future.

True, you won't need to upgrade for a long time, but you can still get great processors for hundreds of dollars less and it won't need to be upgraded for a long time. Some stuff is just overkill if you ask me.

For the burner, get this one:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-136-047&depa=1

It is compatible with all CDs and DVDs. As for the motherboard for your Athlon 64 FX-55 CPU, get this motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-487&depa=1

or this one without the dual SLi configuration:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-484&depa=1

http://www2.amd.com/us-en/recmobo/DetailHandler/1,,,00.html?queryID=92436

Everything is compatible. As for the power supply, anything higher than 400 Watts would be nice.

i used arctic silver paste, but the heatsink and fan that came with my CPU is great....i dont know what u r talkint baout quantum....

Okay, thanks guys for all the replies.

As to why I don't want to get a better video card, my friend might give me his 9800 Pro if he gets a new card, so I really don't need the top-of-the-line since I don't do that much intense gaming.

And as someone previously mentioned, I probably won't need to upgrade for a long time. :D
