Building a computer for the first time and need advice

i think intl is way better and bang for the buck intl over clocks alot better!! i would stay with intel!

Ok, but here is my question... Say I'm going to get a Dual core processor from either Intel or AMD. Which one should i get?? The charts say all this stuff about like conroe 3000/333 , p35, 800 or windsor 3000/200 Nf590 , 750.
But some of them say they are still core 2 duos or athlon 64 2x but all have different names. Whats the difference.

Also, so far I'm up to this.
My ram i chose doesn't work with my mobo.
Possibly get seperate audio/video cards.
Maybe a different, nicer mobo.

i would go for a really nice motherboard if you want to build a decent comp. you wont need an audio card for most motherboards, just look for something that says integrated audio. and a vid card wouldnt hurt because you want a good picture, especially if you want to watch movies or something

if you want the best of the best go with intel, but really both will be just as effective for what you will use it for. intel really just costs more

heres a decent intel mobo and cpu

this along with all the other stuff i told you to look at...all compatible would be fine too, its just 100 dollars more

heres a step up on an amd board if you go that way

The Intel combo kostonbleeds posted is nice but you should wait for the E7000s which will replace the E4000s and they'll be out in about a months time and will be exactly the same price.
