thanks

Great, except for the 3Gbps SATA drive. You don't need the higher transfer rate. rpm and response time are most important to performance.

With the way sli is performing and with prices dropping, dual 6800gs's might be a better way to go. Or, just get one and then, when prices are cheap, add another card. The thing about comps is to make them as future proof as possible. While the x800 is a fantastic gpu, which is one that I have, I have to say that getting this 6800gs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150118
which is not only cheaper but faster, you can add another one later on. You don't have to get sli if you don't want though. An sli mobo is slightly more expensive, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138253
this would be a better choice....

spring for the san diego core for the amd processor if you can stretch that much.. Has double the cache.. its the best you can get before the fx series when gaming imo

hmmm ur specs looks pretty good....
but i would recommand a better cpu, 3000+ is kinda slow if ur gonna hve a x800pro. iwould recommand athlon 3500+

Couldn't read the posts below yours as I'm rushing to go to sleep but a few problems I see with your list.

Unless your overclocking don't get the 3000+, its a great cpu i own it myself but the 3200 is almost the same.

Also, I would suggest nVidia.

One more thing, WD Caviars kill, I find them bad hard drives.

No, do not get a 1MB L2 Cache Athlon 64. Not worth it. It does improve performance considerably in some games, but in most tasks and games, it doesn't fit it's price tag.

And get the 3000+ even if you don't overclock, unless you're sure you need the extra performance. Believe me, 3000+ is fast enough for smooth operating in most tasks.

And Caviar's do have a bad rep; Hitachi is known as the manufacturer of the fastest hard drive on the market, so maybe go for one of them; a 150Mbps one.

Unless you want a 10,000rpm Raptor; those are good.
