This is my first post, and I'm looking for some advice on what parts to buy. Basically this is what I am thinking of buying:

CPU: Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ Socket 939 512KB
Motherboard: DFI nForce4 Ultra-D
Memory: G.Skill 1GB DDR FF PC4800 (2x512MB) Dual Channel Kit
Hard Disk Drive: Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 10 NCQ 300GB 6L300SO SATA 16MB Cache
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 6800 GT 256Mb
PSU: Q-Tec 550W Dual Fan Gold PFC ATX
Screen: Viewsonic VX924 19" LCD TFT
DVD RW: NEC ND-3520A Black Dual Layer DVD+/-RW
Floppy Disk Drive: Sony 3.5" FDD
Case: Extreme Gaming Spider Case
Mouse: Logitek MX510
Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse

I've done a bit of research on parts before, and it lead me to this spec. The PC itself will mainly be for gaming, but also a lot of games programming. Can anyone give me advice on what to change/buy??

Thanks very much!

PC4800, is that the new memory speed for Athon systems? I've actually seen posts on DDR600 used in Athon 64 systems but I can't seem to find a motherboard that supports it. Just wondering if does exist.

ive got ddr500 pc4000 ram on my abit mobo, but i think it runs as ddr400 pc3200 ram.

as for you, dont get gskill ram, look in ocz ram, its the best. also, i was about to get the x2 4200, if your play games, get the amd a64 4000+, if your using this computer for a business then get the x2, if for gaming, get the 4000, its faster.

Well I've had a look round, and I've decided to get:

OCZ 2GB (1GB x 2) DDR2 PC2-4200 Dual Channel RAM

And I've also decided to go with the GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card. Big jump, but then I need this PC to last a while :)

haha thanks! Well I'll be building it soon, and then I can post some bench marks up.....can;t wait to see what it's like! :)
