Regarding the chip, he would rather have an Intel build. I don't really plan on swaying him into AMD territory yet.

I would have a look at the Q9400 then. But it's performs around the same as the PII 920 as is more expensive.

2. Is the 4870 really better than the 9800GTX+? For some reason I never really liked the new 4800 series. I have, though, seen many people point out how good it performs.

Well, put it this way. I couldn't even find any recent reviews including both the 9800GTX+ and the HD 4870 since they are not competing with each other at all.

But here are some old benches using Catalyst 8.5 when the HD 4870 was just released.

1. What PS would you recommend from OCZ for this particular build?
