Default Budget PC

Hi guys,
I'm posting on behalf of a friend who wants to get a new pc. His budget is AUD$3000 (aprrox US$2000).
He will be using it for games and multimedia and won't be able to upgrade again for about 2 years.
Here is the skeleton We have worked out.

AMD Athlon 4000+ (AUD$600)
200GB Wester Digital SATA2 HDD (AUD$200)
Pioneer DVR-110D (AUD$90)

He needs a mother board and Graphics card.

Potential Video Cards:

Albatron 7800GT (AUD$609)
XFX 7800GTX (AUD$729)
Leadtek Extreme PX7800GT (AUD$684)

He needs all the help he can get and I can only give him so much...

Thanks in advance.

Does he plan on using SLi? If so, get this:

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131568

eVGA 256-P2-N529-AX Geforce 7800GTX 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130237

What a beautiful site...

Oh wait a minute, it's for a budget PC??!?! That's a bummer. Those parts are so nice, maybe Australian conversion would make it cheaper...

Yeah, that looks pretty good. It will work. It's got a similar motherboard like mine.

He needs to make it cheaper I'll bold the things that his mum wants as they have to stay...

AMD S939 Athlon 64 4000+
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9
2GB PC3200 DDR400
200GB 7200rpm SATA HDD
Albatron GeForce 7800GT
Pioneer dual layer 16x DVD burner
19" CMV TFT LCD Monitor*
Windows XP home + Microsoft Office Pro

*This can be changed but it is preffered that it stays.

Is there anyway to make it cheaper without damaging it's performance much?
Remember it has to last 2 years.
