Default Browser FTP Issue. Where are the folders?

For a long time now I've been having a very frustrating problem trying to setup FTP accounts on my domain -- via Cpanel, which just lets you add a new FTP account and give it a username and password.

In either XP/Vista and IE or Firefox -- I can never seem to get to that specific account I created. For example, I create "myftp". So I go to ftp://myftp@mydomain.com (I've also tried ftp://myftp@mydomain.com@mydomain.com AND ftp://myftp%mydomain.com@mydomain.com).

I get what appears to be a directory listing in my root ftp account - but still no folder view; and no setting I try to change in the browser give me an FTP folder view.

So it's making it impossible to give people their own FTP access. Any suggestions on where I'm going wrong??

Thanks in advance.
