Default Broken screen

Hi guys,
I've just dropped my old laptop and broke the screen, obviously now doesn't work, however the computer still powers up fine. Is there any cables available to connect the laptop up to another laptop to check the computer still loads up to windows? If so what sot of cable am I looking for? And would i require any software

If the laptop has an external video port (usually SVGA, though newer ones have HDMI), then you can hook up an external monitor and use it that way.

If audio still works, and the Windows opening song is still enabled (and not muted), then turning the machine on and waiting will tell you if it boots to the Splash, at least. If you don't get the music, there could be other issues, but not necessarily that the machine est kaput.
