Is your LAN Card Onboard or is it a PCI Card?

I Think you may have to disable the onboard LAN and buy a new Ethernet card.

Im Pretty sure it's the LAN card,but as Celegorm said,Have you tried updating vista? Have you installed Sp1?

I have SP1 on the computer also...and no visible updates...but I can check

EDIT: no updates that I can see...I could unplug the net for the night and see what will happen..or would it happen again just cause of the driver error? or whatever is wrong with it

Yeah just double check the updates,but im doubly sure its the LAN card.

Hey Neo can you recommend a good/cheap card to get on the net with? works with cable and ethernet would be awesome

Install the card,plug in your router,and away you go!

When you do install it though,make sure to go into your BIOS and disable the onboard LAN.
