okay im building a pc
(some of the parts are in my sig)
and i was wondering if i need anything special to watch blu-ray?
i want to put a blu-ray rom in
it has a 2.66 quad core
with 4 gigs of ram
a 8800 gt 640 mhz core clock w/ 512 mb of ram
on a 22" LCD monitor with a 20000:1 contrast ration and a 2ms response time
a 7.1 sound card with 5.1 speakers
would i be able to see all of the wonders of blu-ray
or will it crash?
thanks for the help

no it will run fine

but you will only get the benefit if the monitor and gpu can display hd resoloutions

HDMI = DVI, they are both HDCP, but HDMI also has digital audio, up to 5.1 channel IIRC

EDIT: sorry HDCP is content protection, but both are are capable of HD content.

Your monitor doesn't support high definition. You can still play the movies, you just won't get all of the "ooh and awe" out of it. Still a pretty sweet monitor though. 720p should play fine. I don't know how 1080p will go for you.
