so I have this older laptop that was given to me. it's not that bad of a laptop honestly. it's a 2003 model compaq presario 2570us with a pent 4 2.53ghz and a gig of ddr ram and ati graphics that seem to run ok.
(no games tested beause I don't play games..):D

anyway on to the catch 22. the latests bios update is what I should be using with all of the fixes and updates for xp pro.
but, they turned off one of the 2 cpu fans and now it idles at 127F.
with the old bios version it idled at 108.
I don't see any difference in the way the computer behaves but I like it to stay cooler. you can really feel the difference all over the bottom.
even the HDD stays 8 degrees cooler.

what would you guys do, keep the new bios or go back to the original version?
they actually started out with v 13 and now it's up to v25. that's how many fixes and updates they've done to it.

i would personally go back to what it was, if you didnt any probems with the old bios there was no need to update. The XP service packs/updates will run the same regardless of the bios version.
