Big Problem. Help!

I'm running XP and somehow my power options setting were changed to "Presentation" so my computer logged off after being idle for several minutes. I went into the control panel and set it back to "Home/Office Desk" where it was before. Now when I boot my computer, after boot is complete, my computer states that windows is shutting down and then proceeds to shut down. I don't even have time to go into the Power Options to change anything even if I knew what to change. Any help is much appreciated.

have you tried booting into safe mode and then doing a system restore?

Virus. Go in safe mode and run virus scan

That worked. Thanks. The problem was when I setup my UPS (Battery Backup) it caused my computer to shut down. I tried it again and the same thing happened. Anybody know why this is happening?
