Default Better rendering?

I doubt anyone here knowes even as much as I do about video editing, but we'll see...

Yesterday, I tried to render just a single picture(no motion, no transitions, etc) I converted to file to match DV(aspect ratio, colors, size, etc) No matter what I did, render times were super high. I tried 30 minutes of it at first, and it said 12 HOURS!

I understand it needs to interlace the video and all, but still, that seems like a bit of overkill for a single video. Anything I'm possibly missing to speed things up?

They get me from 0 to 1...

I don't think it shold make any difference seeing as video hasn't changed any... Perhaps when I have time I'll see about rendering non interlaced video and see what speeds I get...
