What about if you compare them based on cost, not clock speeds?
Then that is where AMD excels.

Haha, looks like we got us a little war goin on! That's all right, I can still learn stuff from bickering! But,back to the software question-what to get, is it expensive etc?

It's free.
You can also get windows 7 RC for free now but you will have to buy a license in a few months, but I am not a windows user. I only have xp on one computer, which I think is still $150 for the pro.

You can also Clone over the OS from your current computer.

Yes, but chances are that he has an older manufactured computer with 32-bit XP, and it probably is loaded up with crapware, like most are.

and? I'm on MCE'05. A 32bit XP. It can cleaned up and operating fine in a day.
