Ihave heard that DUal Core alwys best Single Core, but what if the clocking speed of the single is higher. I am running a Intel D Vive 2.80 GHZ Dual Core in my system right now,but my friend gave me an old motherborad of his that still had the processor in it. They use the same socket. The processor is Intel Pentium 4 2.93 Ghz Single Core. Which one is the better? Should I change them out? Is it a good upgrade. I am leaning to keeping my Dual core cause it works wonderfully. But I do like more speed even if its just a 130 Mhz increase. what should I do?

The Pentium D Dual cores are essentially two P4s slapped together to make a dual core. Your CPU would only be marginally faster in single threaded apps and would be almost twice as fast in multi threaded apps.
