Which is Better

im building a new pc and trying to choose between AMD and Intel the 2 proccesers im choosing from are:
Pentium D 2.66Ghz Smithfield
OR a
Athlon X2 1.9Ghz Brisbane

both are the cheapest dual cores avaible for both companys ALSO if i get the intel ill be able to afford 2gigs of ram 1gig with the amd(same ram just size--corsair xms)

Definitly go with the AMD if it's a gaming machine. AMD's are better for gaming. Plus, it overclocks well so you can get it to run at speeds of the more expensive processors, with the proper cooling of course.

I'd go with the AMD.

now, think about the 2GB over 1GB. If its for gaming, i would take 2GB, so Intel for me. The processor doesn't make a drastic difference. But when the game needs to go into the page file, it will lag like no tomorrow.

cant afford a half decent mobo to pair with i think im going to buy the AMD ill just buy 2 more sticks of 512 to get 2gigs when i get the money and ill probaly be able to get a sli board i hope...
