i took abit of a gamble and brought this memory off ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=170138536896&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007

i took out my mushkin memory from my comp in the sig and stuck this in to test it out. i had no troubles booting up and using applications and no bsod. i have memtest86 biult into the bios of my dfi board but i have never used it before. i was wondering what is the best test(s) to use on the memory or do i just stick in the ram and let memtest86 run?

yeah jus let memtest run that will do the job but the chances are if your booting up and running ok then the RAM is ok.

its a strange thing about RAM where it usually works or it doesnt full stop.

so if your RAM didnt work youd know bout it

ive been letting it run now and its passed 3 times on all of the tests so it looks like my gamble paid off

it was a good buy. ive been building a cheap budget system for my girlferiend for when she goes to uni. its almost done. ill put up a post about it when its finished. itsd relly cheap (£88.06) and based around an athlon 64 skt939 3200+

hey i built this one here for around £50
pentium 4 2.8GHZ most expensive part £25
mobo -free
Ram-256MB £4
hard drive-40GB one from prev build
60GB-£13
other bits like fans and a new heatsink £7
case from prev build
But yeah that is a pretty cheap budget system right there . I mean 512MB ram for 99P what a bargin .
