And, well, Opteron, for some reason, has a better ring to it than Athlon. Not really. Athlon does. I was kidding.

But Opty's are awesome nonetheless and they're fun to mess around with!

P4s always have a higher multiplier, thats why the high clock speeds.

my step dad is building another computer for work what is a good AMD processor for applications like photshop adobe indesign corel draw and stuff like that?

Athelon 64 X2 series. Or the new Pentium D 9xx series processors.

Two choices:

AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (These CPUs perform better than an AMD Athlon 64 4200+!)

AMD Athlon 64 FX 51, 53, 55
