I would recommomend reading up and building your own, it can be very fun if you take your time, and put love n money into it. You will be happy. Otherwise get a gateway or something, and get ripped off, and hate it after a week.

Yeah i see lots of dead dell's too, infact most name brand PC's seem to die alot.

Anyways, im not going to jump on the boat of your own PC.

Usually city's have a few good non brand name computer stores, that will build you a nice PC cheap. I'd state your needs to a few stores, get a quote, and post back here asking about their PC's. Small PC stores usually use better, standard parts.

I agree with Chris. A lot of computer stores (not major ones like Best Buy or Circuit City) have pretty good computers that are like buliding your own, but they carry a different brand name. PC Club is one store that does this, they have some decent computers that are made by them and prebuilt and stuff and they also typically include antivirus software and some extra software (not as much as dell or gateway or one of those brands). You can see some different models and stuff here: http://pcclub.com/systems.cfm

why does everyone think alienware is the shit. its too overpriced for what they are giving you, either build your own or find a decent eMachines/Gateway for your purposes.

if your into heavy duty gaming and you need the best of the best, build your own computer. if your new to computers and want to tweak around a little bit go with the eMachines or Gateway.

Well, in that case, get a Dell, since you won't do much with it. I mean, I thought you were to buy a Brand PC and add stuff, but that's not the case. Get a Dell or something around the rage of Acer. Acer is good!

Well, I'm a Dell Lover!

When I got it, the comparision price of buillding my own to the same spec was like twice. OK, they aren't the best in the world, but I've never has any trouble with mine (3 years old), so never had to ring the help desk

On a budget live in England, I bought my husband an Emachines for Christmas last year. In June it blew up. They sent a carrier to pick it up, and drop off a new one. It had Linux on, so I installed windows. It crashed repeatedly. I rang and told them. They came and picked it up, and credited my card for the bill for the computer. So... I got a computer for 8 months free!

So, now he's got an HP.

But, my Dell carries on!

agreed. i work for one of those non-brand name computer stores (milwaukee pc) and i see less of our stuff come in for service and more of the major brands. (mostly made of gateways, dells, and emachines.)

Well I was going to say non-brand too. Go around and check out computer stores around the city. They might make one to your needs and you can even help pick parts!
