It is after mail in rebate. You have to figure that monitor will cost in the ballpark of $280+ with tax and shipping up front. He only has $230 to spend.

I have 3 of the 19" version of it. Nice monitor IMO.
How I do my budget is to see what I can afford w/o borrowing money, If I want something, but can't yet afford it, I save more money. I hate borrowing money, you have to use all the money you get from then on until you pay it off (in my case). Plus it's bad spending habits you may take up later in life. MIR's take forever to get back, I'd go with $30 savings of said^ Acer monitor and free shipping if $200-$230 was my price range.
