Yes, and No.
Its a really good CPU, it can OC well, and i dont think it was far from the C2Q benched IIRC. Correct me if im wrong.

But not many games will utilize all 4 cores, i think so far, Crysis, and GTAIV is the only games that benefits from it. There might be others, but i think an dual core will run fine on it.

But with the prices of Quads now, its highly recommended to get a Quad

They won't be getting any lower for a while. Some quad cores have actually gone up in prices. For example, the Q6600 was being sold for $184.99 and now it's $194.99. Most people aren't buying into the i7, I guess. I'm still pretty content with my current build. Hopefully I'll move into a full tower case eventually with another Core 216 in SLI.
