what is the best codec for encoding movies.

i heard xivd, then divx, what is right


what is the BEST?!?!?

xvid and divx is the same thing.

divx= D I V X

notice a pattern?
i dont know why they reverse it...
but i do know, its always xvid on items of questionable legality

I use xvid, and it words great for me. Now i can watch all my episodes of south park.

i am encoding kill bill 1 and 2 and napoleon dynamite to go onto a 1gig sc card

something like 200 mb for each.

I like Divx. it seems to produce the best quality to me, for the smallest size.

The only downside is, you need to download the codec on other peoples machines to play movies back.

there are 546 different video codecs

the most popular is Xvid MPEG4
