Best Budget Skt 939 CPU ????

Hey all,

can any of you come up with a Socket 939 CPU that beats out this Core? That is in that price range???

around $200 anyway. i found the 4800+ Dual Core Toledo proc only for $250 and that looked pretty sweet, but my 3200+ heatsink proablly wont do that CPU justice.

any input would be appreciated.

Well, you have to specify if you want dual core or single core, but since that's dual core, I'll show you the dual core options. Assuming you don't want to go into the FX series of Athlons (because the dual core ones are very expensive), your options are basically the following (pricing off newegg):

Athlon X2 4200+ (2.2 GHz, 1MB L2 cache total, $185)
4400+ (2.2 GHz, 2MB L2, $225)
4600+ (2.4 GHz, 1MB L2, $235)
4800+ (2.4 GHz, 2MB L2, $280)

So for $55 dollars more, you can get 0.2 GHz higher clock speed. Or for $10 more, get 0.2 GHz faster but give up 1 MB L2 cache. Not a big difference in performance, unless you want the bragging rights.

i am open to either dual or single, i would like to hear others opionions on both as well.

for me i do video editing, gaming, music, movies, encoding, buring, just about everything with MY pc.
