Default Best AMD processor

What is the best AMD processor? or what is a good processor other than AMD?I heard from a friend he doesn't like the opteron series and stcks with the Athlon which is better?

I think their current flagship processor (the fastest one they have) is the Athlon FX-62:

Right now, Intel is owning AMD in terms of price vs. performance. If I were you, I would get an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600:

the best amd processor right now is the fx-74, not the fx-62

Yes, Athlon ones are good.. depends what you want it for, I bought a AMD sempron because it was in my budget and was adiquate for my needs! All depeends on what you want to use your PC for!

Opterons are kick ass budget processor that can breathe new life into your Socket 939 machine

They're both good, but I would go for a Core 2 Duo either way.
