Default Best $1300 gaming laptop ASUS G71GX-RX05 vs MSI GT729

Its coming down to it.. I'm going to buy one of these laptops...

Which one would you get?

Whatever one it is I plan on using an external 7200 RPM 1TB drive for storage and swapping the main drive with an SSD.

Lots of A/V stuff, Media Stuff, and gaming will be done on this laptop.

I don't see where the debate is
The Asus wins in processor, hdd, screen size by .1", memory and gpu

It also comes with the free upgrade to Windows 7

Asus for sure from me.

My mistake..

I updated the Link on the MSI, it now has the same processor @ the same price.

It also includes the Upgrade coupon to windows 7.

MSI has a higher resolution screen than ASUS
MSI has 4gb DDR3 1066 vs 6gb DDR2 800 --> MSI supports DDR3 (future headroom)

The Asus computer is the better of the two and is the better name anyway.

I would go with the ASUS. DDR3 is useless on the socket 775 system and won't give you any noticeable performance. It also has more memory which will help more, better GPU, the MSI has a better HDD, but you're going to be switch that out anyway.
