Hi guys, I have got £500 to splash out on a new build, I have compiled the following specifications to suite my needs (regular video editing, some current games, photo editing (10MB Photos)). Do you think that it is good build, good value for money and would suite my needs? If not, could you possibly suggest some changes?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.20GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail (CP-168-AM) - £135.11

Asus M2R32MVP Crossfire (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-178-AS) - £100.17

Sapphire RADEON X1650 PRO 256 MB - £82.19

Maxtor MaxLine III NCQ 250GB 7V250F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-094-MD) - £55.21

Corsair 1GB XMS2-5400 DDR2 SDRAM - £90.42

Emermax Verre Midi 350 - With Florescent Light - £35.19

= £498.29 Incl. VAT, Excl. Del. (Already have optical drives as well)

Regards,
James.

Yeah that's nice for under £500, and you have a cool name ;)

Have you considered buying a DELL? They have some amazing builds for the £500 marker, with monitors. If you don't, I would definetly go for 2GB RAM..

Thanks for your reply! I do have a Dell but I love to build computers my own way and to be able to overclock them without anything in the way, that is the disadvantage with Dell - its all locked down! I have a nice 19" monitor so I do not require a new one (its 2 months old).

What cool name?

Yeah, you'll probably get a lot out of that build. It's very similar to mine, just I spent about $600 more. What kind of optical drive are you getting? Case looks really cool.

Well I currently have a DVD-RAM and a nice shiny Blu-Ray burner which is just waiting to be installed into it!
