Default Re: Beginner question about CPU's and motherboards. Links included.

well, there are two main things that i (personally) look at when searching for compatibility: Socket type and power consumption.

Both of those are immediately visable on the CPU: Its socket is 'AM3' and its power consumption is 125W.

Now, looking at the motherboard, it does support AMD Socket AM3, and power ratings up to 140W. So, yes, this CPU will work with the motherboard.

you could also look at the architecture, but if the socket and wattage are the same on both, the architecture probably is. And indeed, it is 45nm on both.
EVGA SLI Micro Z68 // Intel i5-2500k @ 4.4GHz // 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1866MHz // Overclocked ASUS GTX 660 Ti // Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 // Kingston Hyper-X 120GB // 2TB WD Green + 500GB WD Black
