Default Battery Life

I've never owned a laptop before, so I have no experience with battery life deterioration. I know that leaving the laptop with the battery and plugged in the outlet can kill batter life. Are there any risks to using a laptop plugged in the outlet without the battery? I know it varies by laptop, but how long should it take for the battery to completely charge up from 0-10%? The manual guide didn't have any information on it. If you can't tell already, I'm trying really hard to learn how to extend battery life as much as possible, if you have any other tips please let me know.

Default Re: Battery Life

Calibrate it monthly.

Same idea applies to all notebooks.
Stop the genocide now.
