Default Barton??

Are all amd processors with a barton core better than there equal amd w/out that core. EX: is this better than a normal athlon 64 w/out a barton core?

If you want to get an Athlon XP CPU, the Barton core is the one to get. Athlon 64 uses a different core and believe they are much better than the older Athlon XP.

i no i didnt realize this wasn't a 64...do they make athlon 64's w/ barton cores or just winchester and venice cores?

Athlon 64s currently are available in the following cores (worth mentioning):

San Diege and Venice. (new cores)

There's another one, but I don't think it is that good.

The other cores are NewCastle and Clawhammer, but I think youre right- San Diego and Venice are the two worth mentioning.

I don't know exactly how they perform against each other, but from what I understand, theyre about the same.

Nah - I could only afford 1 of the 7800's. I just went ahead and got the SLI board for upgrading possibilities. But yeah, I think to have 2 of those cards in SLI I would have to upgrade processors or it would be a bottleneck.
