Default Bare Bones Unit 600$ Your input please.

Hmm ignore all that previous stuff. I've decided on the following, I just need to know which is better the X2 or the 3.2 PD with current RAM setup.

COMBO 1
- Moto + CPU - MachSpeed MSNV-939 NVIDIA Socket 939 ATX Motherboard and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz OEM Processor
*RAM for x2 3800* - Ultra 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory (2 x 1024MB)

COMBO 2
- Moto + CPU - Abit IB9 Intel Socket 775 ATX Motherboard and an Intel Pentium D 940 3.20GHz Processor
*RAM for Pentium D* - ORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) x2

Case
- CASE - Ultra Gladiator Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with 500W Power Supply
Video card
- Video Card - XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX / 256MB DDR3
Hard drive
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1200JS 120GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s

well that looks like a good build those pentium D's are really overlooked IMO i have one in my machine and works like a charm

if you would be willing to build from scratch you could probably get a half decent C2D but its up2 u

Thank you ssc, I would build from scratch but I am a bit paranoid putting it together. I haven't built a pc from labor and love since about 2002 :X Since I came 150 under budget I was thinking of trying to max out ram or beef up the vc. I saw a nice bare bones with a c2d but the case was hideous and decided against it. I'd just like to make sure the ram I picked out along with the vc and hd are compatible correct? Thanks again guys!

Yes go for the 8600GT. If you can, get the GT XXX edition from XFX. It's like $10 more and it's already overclocked a lot.
