Default Bad for HD

is it bad for someone to buy a new hd and then install an OS and the drivers and then the next day format it and redo it? I had to do this but I want to know if this will harm it.

Nope, no harm in it at all.

You're just writing data to the disk same as every day use.

It'll be fine.
