Bad Hard Drive?

So, I have this HP Pavilion p6219f desktop on my bench that is acting very strange. It seems when the computer is powered up for more than a few minutes, it stops recognizing the hard drive.

I put the drive in another rig to test and it passed read tests as well as all S.M.A.R.T. tests.

To be sure, I tested with a known good drive and cable in the offending PC and got the same result. Bad controller possible? Has anyone ever seen that?

Personally, I've never seen this happen. If it's happening on more than one hard drive, then I'd say it's the MOBO....but not 100%

I tested both the old and new hard drives in the offending PC and another PC. Both tested bad in the offending PC and good in the other rig.
