Default Backing Up Data

I tried to dual boot linux one day, and it resulted in my windows being corrupt. The windows system that i have will not boot up. What would be the easiest way to fix the windows boot without deleting all of my data. I have heard using the recovery console, but what would I do to fix the boot? Also would there would be any way for me to backup that data to another hard drive? The two hard drives I have are sata drives, so how would I back them up using knoppix?
