Default back door galore

does anyone know a way i can get around a packet shaper on a network? example: im on a university network and certain applications/games do not work because they are thought to be p2p (which is restricted) even though they are not p2p. the university staff is not helping to resolve any of the problems. anyone know a way around it via http tunneling? or a proxy server perhaps? leme know if its even possible, i know you know!
