awkward dual monitor problem

So, I connect my monitors vga cable to my laptop so I can actually use my laptop (screen is broken). Now, for some reason, I dont know why I did but, I clicked the option to use both monitors (rather than just the one), so now I can only see half the screen on my monitor...

and I cant set it back as every window appears on the other screen (the broken one), couldnt find anything in bios, so hopefully someone here may know a solution

Try unhooking the monitor and restarting the laptop a few times (even if you have to hold the power button to turn it off).
Hit the FN (function key) and whatever F button (F1-F12) switches between external monitor and the laptop screen (without the exteranl monitor hooked up).
Try changing the resolution if you can see that menu on the external monitor.

well, this is embarrassing... I hit fn+F4 to swicth to external monitor as usual, and it solved the problem D: I really do have some derp moments... Thanks anyway if you didnt say that, i probably would have thought of it days later XD which would have been a pain
