Angry AVI format video(can't play it)

i have check for converters, so i'm not being lazy. i found a bunch but none of them seem to work, all they do is infest my computer with spy/ad-ware. i looked for a plugin for WMP but couldn't find one.

so if anybody can find a plugin for WMP to play AVI format video that would be the best, but if not does anybody know of a good converter.

Do you have the divx codec?

If so, is it updated? you may have an old codec and an new divx file.
If divx is installed WMP will be able to play this.

EDIT:
http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/

unfortunally the free version contains a bit of adware.. but once the codec is installed just run your scanner and remove the ads. Once the adware is gone it doesn't come back.

Either that or perhaps the avi is bad? Also do you have quicktime? AVI is an orginal quicktime file.

Hehe, since when does Windows media player not play .avi files? Anyway don't waste your time with WMP use Winamp or the core media player, the core comes with a BUNCH of codecs!

In my opinion not to be lost in conjectures what codec you need it's just necessary to install complete codec pack. I always use K-Lite Codec Pack for example You can find it here
